Michael J. Brabo, CPA is Managing Partner and Founder of Brabo, Carlsen & O’Brien LLP. Mr. Brabo specializes in providing privately held and family owned businesses with accounting, tax, consulting, forensic, estate, and professional trustee services.
A graduate of California State Polytechnic University at Pomona, California with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration, Mr. Brabo is a CPA and is registered with the State of California as a Professional Trustee. Mr. Brabo is on the Board of Directors of the Coachella Valley Housing Coalition and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Building Industry Association – Desert Chapter, and Desert Contractor’s Association.

Wayne E. Carlsen, CPA is Partner and Co-founder of Brabo, Carlsen & O’Brien LLP. Mr. Carlsen is a CPA who specializes in auditing and tax planning. Mr. Carlsen’s areas of expertise range the for-profit and non-profit sectors with a concentration in country clubs, common interest realty associations [i.e., Condominium and Homeowners’ Associations (HOAs), and Cooperative Housing], other non-profit organizations, and the construction industry. His experience also includes auditing employee benefit/401K plans. Mr. Carlsen is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts, California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Desert Hospitality Accounting Association. He is also a member and Past Treasurer and Board Member of the Community Associations Institute, where he has spoken on a number of topics, and is currently Treasurer for the Tuscany Homeowners’ Association.

Thomas F. O'Brien, CPA, CVA is a Partner of Brabo, Carlsen & O’Brien LLP (BCO). Mr. O’Brien specializes in providing privately held and family-owned businesses with accounting, tax, outsourced CFO, and valuation services. Serving numerous clients across several industries, Mr. O’Brien’s strengths lie in his ability to look at financial reports and see a picture. That portrait allows him to help clients strategize and plan their business, transactions, and objectives so that tax and operational implications can be optimized.

Mr. O’Brien graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and from San Diego State University at San Diego with a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He also holds the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA)designation. Mr. O’Brien is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Desert Contractors Association; he has also served as board member and Past Director of Rotary International. In addition, Mr. O’Brien is an active member of the Sacred Heath Catholic Church in Palm Desert where he serves on the Finance Council Board.



Steven J. Miller, CPA is a Partner of Brabo, Carlsen & O’Brien LLP (BCO). Mr. Miller specializes in providing privately held and non-profit businesses with financial statements, tax planning and strategy, resolution of complex tax matters, internal control analysis, and accounting information systems. Mr. Miller’s expertise includes operations, which proves invaluable when clients need additional support in analyzing and evaluating challenges and business problems. In addition, he has been instrumental in assisting clients pursue energy efficiencies and the federal and California state energy credits that are available.Mr. Miller graduated from Loyola Marymount University at Los Angeles, California with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He holds Executive Committee roles in the Building Industry Association—Desert Chapter, Habitat for Humanity of the Coachella Valley, and Coachella Valley Regional Housing Trust. He was also a long-time member of the Rotary Club of Palm Springs, and he participated in the Desert Contractors Association Palm Springs Hotel and Hospitality Association.
